Meal FAQs

How many people does each HomeCooked Meal serve?

Entrees are generally available in two sizes, full and half.  Our full-size entree contains either 4-6 servings or 4 servings (items are labeled) and our half size entree contains 2-3 servings or 2 servings. A serving is approximately 4-6 ounces of protein. Please note that some items such as slow-cooker meals are only available in the full (4-6) size and sizes for non-entrees (dips, soups, cookies, etc.) vary and will be included in their description online.

Can I customize my meals?

We can customize/omit ingredients to suit your family's taste in many of our dishes. This can include omitting ingredients you don’t like such as onions, or punching up the spice in our chili.  Please use the special instructions box to inform us of your preferences at the end of the order process.

Are the meals fully cooked or do they need to be cooked?

Generally the meals are “ready to cook” meaning they need to go into the oven, be cooked on the stove, cooked in a slow-cooker or on a grill. Some items such as soups, mac & cheese, BBQ Chicken Sandwiches and dips can be warmed in the microwave. Regardless of the cooking method, HomeCooked provides simple, detailed cooking instructions and times. No slicing, dicing or special equipment required.

How do you handle allergies?

We prepare almost everything in-house (from sauces to sides) to maintain strict quality control over our offerings. We strive to offer a wide variety of entrees so those with food allergies or dietary restrictions can find options on our menus. We are very sensitive to food allergies and disclose common allergies under each meal on the menu and on our cooking labels. Our staff is trained with proper procedures to reduce the chance of cross-contamination; however, we do have common allergens present in our facility and occasionally they are used on shared equipment. We have many loyal clients who have allergies in their families, but we cannot guarantee with 100% certainty that an allergen is not present. We recommend that you list any food allergies in the special instructions area of your order so we can double check your items as we pack your order.

Do you use organic ingredients?

We use only high-quality ingredients from sources that provide reliable foods that meet or exceed our high standards. While many of our ingredients are organic, we do not source exclusively organic foods. We are always looking to evolve our menu, ingredients and sourcing to best meet the needs of our customers so let us know what’s important to you.

Do you have Vegetarian options?

Yes! We always include vegetarian options on our menu. Every month we offer Vegetarian Mexican Tortilla Lasagna due to its popularity but have other yummy vegetarian options as well. In addition, we often offer vegetarian soups and additional vegetarian options in our grab & go cases. Call us at 610.647.1002 to find out what is available to pick up today for dinner tonight!

Do you provide nutritional information?

Yes. Nutritional information is available on the menu item detail pages for most items and we’re working on adding nutrition to our cooking labels as well.

Are the meals refrigerated or frozen?

Items from our “Grab & Go” cases at our Paoli shop are available both refrigerated or frozen. Pick up and delivery orders are prepped fresh and then frozen, with the exception of our seafood which comes in frozen and we keep it frozen for you.  If you would like us to keep a meal or two refrigerated to enjoy within 24 hours of when you receive it, please let us know in the special ingredients section of your order.  For the best experience and quality, all items are frozen for delivery orders.

How long does each meal take to cook?

Once thawed most meals can be cooked in fewer than 35 minutes– some in as few as 5 minutes.  Meals cooked from frozen can take up to 85-90 minutes in the oven.  For specific cooking times, please refer to the meal detail pages on our menu.

How much space will HomeCooked Meals require in my freezer or refrigerator?

In most cases half size meals come either in gallon size zipper bags or in 9" round pans, approximately 2" high. Full size meals come either in gallon size zipper bags or in "lasagna size" rectangular aluminum pans, 13x10x3." We freeze everything as flat as possible. We recommend storing all meals in your freezer except those you plan to use in the next 2-3 days.

Where does HomeCooked deliver?

We regularly deliver to many areas in Montgomery, Chester and Delaware counties.  We also have special delivery dates to Ocean City, NJ, Newtown (Bucks County) and Lancaster.  To see if we deliver to your area, please visit our delivery order page.

What should I bring when I come to pick up my order?

We suggest bringing a large cooler to keep your food cold on your drive home, particularly if the food will be in transport for more than a few minutes. You do not need to bring a print-out of your order.

How should I prepare for my HomeCooked delivery?

Deliveries usually happen mid-late afternoon – if you are not going to be home, please leave a cooler outside for our driver to fill (with ice packs on super-hot days). For larger orders, we suggest you leave 2 coolers.

How do I place an order and pay?

You can place an order online on www.HomeCooked.net, in person or over the phone. On the site, click on "order now" and choose pick up or delivery. First time users will create a profile with basic contact info and preferred pick-up/delivery location, and then choose meals!  You can pay online at the time of your registration with Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Amex or a HomeCooked gift card for deliveries, or can choose the "pay in store" option for pick up orders. You can also pay us with Apple Pay, Venmo, Paypal, cash or a check in store. If you pay by credit card on our website, we do not save your credit card information after processing for your security.

Can I return my food?

For health and safety reasons, we cannot accept product returns of any kind. If you have an issue with a product purchased at HomeCooked or questions about our refund/return policy, please contact us.

My gift card code doesn't seem to be working

We've updated the way that we issue our gift cards, so some of our older ones need to be brought up to date.  If you are having trouble redeeming yours, please try adding two zeros (00) to the end of the code you already have. If that doesn’t work select the “pay in store” option and email/call us with the gift card information so that we can sort it out prior to pick up or delivery.
