For 2021 we're offering two types of camp sessions: 1) Cooking (which includes make 1 dessert/day) and 2) Baking (exclusively baked goods)
COOKING SESSIONS (Ages 6.5-11): Calling all aspiring young chefs! We've got a great cooking camp for you and your family will love it too! Camp takes place Tues-Thurs for 3 hours and each camper comes home with a ready-to-cook dinner entrée and dessert for 5 people each night! Follow simple cooking directions & dinner’s done! All entrees are freeze-able.
Each day features different projects/recipes and topics covered include kitchen safety, healthy choices, reading recipes, measuring & more! The campers will make and enjoy a snack and prepare a dinner entrée (that serves 5) and a sweet treat to bring home, often a side dish too. At the end of the session all campers take home a cookbook. There are 2 sets of recipes each summer!
Kids 6.5-11. We take up to 10 kids/session. No peanut, tree nut or shellfish ingredients will be used in projects. Gluten and dairy will be used in projects.
(week of 6/22, 7/6, 8/16 & 8/23), ages 8-11* After phenomenal response in 2020, we're doing baking again, this time with 4 weeks of baking. Note: each week will use the same recipes.
Think cookies, crisps, crumbles and more. We'll be mixing up a storm and each day the campers will get to sample their projects, make a snack plus bring home either fully baked items and/or the batters, doughs and more to bake or freeze until they are ready to bake them at home. Sample projects may include whoopie pies, mini muffins, bar cookies and more! All recipes will be coming home too.
We will take up to 10 kids/session. Note: no peanuts or tree nuts are used but gluten and dairy ingredients may be used in projects so campers with those food allergies are regrettably discouraged from attending for their safety.
*If kids <8 want to attend a baking session they are permitted if they attend a cooking session prior to a baking session.
OUR CAMP PHILOSOPHY AND WHAT TO EXPECT:
We aspire to inspire kids to have an increased interest in food and cooking or baking while in a safe, fun and confidence-building environment. We teach basic techniques and have kids do all measuring, mixing and they create their final products.
Some ingredients may be prepped in advance for them to use in their projects (i.e. pre-diced onions or a pre-made sauce). They may use items like a pizza cutter for slicing or a plastic knife for frosting a cupcake. What's almost certain is that the campers will have fun and leave with a huge pile of food that they created along with big smiles on their faces!
If you are looking for an experience where your child learns "Cordon Bleu" techniques, formal knife skills or is getting "standing at the stove" experience then we are not the camp for you.
$239 per Camper: Children Ages 6.5-11 for cooking. Ages 8-11 for baking.
*If kids <8 want to attend a baking session they are permitted if they attend a cooking session prior to baking.
If siblings attend the same session, $10 off/for 2nd or 3rd family member. $10 will be refunded within 1 week of registration.
